While I like to buy on the dips and take advantage of short term price falls I am not sure about WTW. It looks to me as if the company has serious behind the scenes problems which the market has been aware of for months. Just look at that graph! Is it going bust?
I would love to say WTW is ready for a recovery or takeover but this one just stinks and for the life of me I dont know how or why it has gone so wrong in such a relatively short space of time. Come back Oprah
finally got around to checking this out a bit more via SEC & looks like (short term player & shorter) steve cohen (Point72 Asset) has been messing with this again. Skimmed through 8/18 13F filing & didn't see WTW listed but it showed up in 11/18 filing & last filing reflects he had 16+K left, so if i had to guess i would say he probably has much to do with stock heading south. Happened before when i think stock was in the teens - dropped under $10 but once he was done playing it headed north. https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/...919004304/xslForm13F_X01/form13fInfoTable.xml
I find it remarkable that someone can impact a stock to that extent which appeared on the surface to be healthy. In reality I think that WTW has been having issues behind the scenes and somehow Steve Cohen has managed to exploit these. How he got the info I dont know but if he has been shorting all the way down then that is some gamble with on a hunch.
totally agree & shorts are an asset when it comes to showing weakness etc. Know i was not trilled to see Cohen's WTW stake but knew O carried much more weight & she would have this company recovering much quicker than CARA did after he took stake there around end of 2015.
There needs to be a degree of underlying weakness in a company to exploit the share price like that. But how did he find out the company was struggling? That is my big question
probably the filings? Not sure about CARA but WTW was no secret & think he jumped in either around same time O came on board or within a couple months.
Once the short selling is over, these share must surely be ready for a bounce? Like an elastic band, it looks like they may have been oversold even if trading is not as good as many were hoping a few months back.
Share price has just stopped, flat lined lol I suppose if the last of the sellers are being mopped up then it should pan out ok. However, I really do not understand what has happened here.
