The US stock market is performing admirably and the technology sector has gone crazy. Is it time to switch into cash? Or do near non-existent savings rates make this an impossible consideration?
Do you wait until the market wobbles then switch to cash or think, mmmm, the market is getting a little carried away, time to cash in now?
Personally I think once you reach a level where you are “happy” to start switching some of your investments into cash then just do it. If you wait for the market to turn then the likelihood is it will turn relatively quickly and you could be down by a few percentage points in the blink of an eye. How many other people are sitting there with the same idea as you?
Might be time to start taking a profit on some of those high flying stocks and building up your cash pile? At best the coronavirus will impact global trade and therefore global economic performance. At worst - this could be very frightening!
If interest rates were anywhere near decent levels I dont think the market would be anywhere near its current level. All of the worldwide recovery in stockmarkets/investment markets is surely fuelled by cheap finance?
