The ugly truth is that it will disrupt markets, wether we like it or not. The US will only intervene when the war begins affecting its domestic economy. Did you know the US funded Isreal over $200m for a defence system? Why? To preserve its OWN economy.

Any fighting in Iraq will not majorly effect the prices on crude, see JR's post above for a more detailed and accurate roadmap of what actually affects oil prices. I don't want to destroy the environment of our country, but I have to say, we have an exceptional amount of potential to completely eliminate the Middle East from the equation on oil.

Any type of war will have a negative impact on the world market I think (JR back me up on this pal). Whatever genocide is taking place right now in Iraq needs to be thwarted by the super powers before it gets out of hand.

EDIT : Just read JR's post about OPEC and oil prices.

Trouble in Iraq or elsewhere in the ME can certainly have at least a short-term impact on crude prices. People tend to speculate more when these conflicts arise, and supplies from these places that export it can even be interrupted at times.

I am very much concerned about the continuing conflicts in the Middle East because it surely does affect the world market. Your region is the major oil supplier in almost all countries and whenever news about an ongoing war in that area breaks out, oil prices also automatically shoot up every where. Every body is concerned that's why the call for overall peace lives on.

There has been trouble over there for years. The economy has had a negative impact due to all of the conflicts that continue to happen over in the middle east. I am positive that these negative effects will continue for most of the foreseeable future.
