I have been hearing a lot about ETrade lately and was curious if it is a good company or one that I should steer clear of? I would like to be on a site where I could buy and sell from multiple different sources if and when I choose, but I am not sure what company to go with.

I've heard that ETrade is decent at worst. I know people who use the broker and swear by it. Then I know others that have had trouble with customer service from the company. With that in mind, I'd still recommend ETrade if you're looking for an acceptable broker. I use Tradeking, though, so I would recommend checking them out before making a final decision. There are no account minimums and trades cost $4.95 each.

They've always seemed to be a reputable company from what I've heard.

Thank you. I am always hesitant about anything that is done all online. I guess my main concern is that the customer service would be hard to reach in the event that I had a question that needed to be answered or needed some help. Phone trees get crazy sometimes.

I've heard it's a great company but i have not had any experience with them so take that with a grain of salt.

There are many good comments. 3 friends are using their services and they are very comfortable and safe. Even they recommended me.

E*TRADE is one of the major players so apart from the fact that their customer service lines may be tied up during certain occasions there really isn't anything wrong with them. I have used them myself in the past with no issues as well as several friends. Eventually you will find a broker website that works for you but it's not a bad idea to play it safe with one of the big guys in the online trading market.

Well, they aren't the cheapest around, but they try hard to defeat the competition, which means you as a customer are utmost respected.
However, I suggest you inform a lot about them, because there are some complaints, too.

Never used them but haven't heard any horror stories, so my guess is that they are pretty much like most other reputable ones out there. Take a look at all the different ones and then make your choice based on what is the best for your style of investing.

I tried E trade years ago. Mot the best experience, but was when I was still green and did not possess the knowledge to trade responsibly. I'm sure their site has gotten better in the last 10 years and made some improvements since then.
