There will more than fireworks on July 4 in the USA. Around the world, eyes will be on Jupiter as a NASA probe, JUNO, will fire its engine, after its 4 year trip, at 11:18 pm EDT July 4 (0318 UT July 5) to enter orbit around the largest planet in our solar system. Live coverage on NASA TV begins 48 minutes earlier at 10:30 (0230). If you thought the flyby of Pluto was amazing -- it was -- JUNO should blow your doors off. I have been doing some reading and watching YouTube videos. All I can say is "Wow!" If you don't have NASA TV on your cable network, other options are NASA's channel on Roku devices, a computer or using the Android/iOS apps for smartphones/tablets. https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/juno/main/index.html https://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/schedule.html I assume the BBC, CNN and Fox News will have some live coverage or cut-ins, perhaps picking up some of the live NASA coverage, but it certainly won't be as complete as the NASA coverage itself.
An amazing scientific and engineering feat, JUNO is In orbit. A 53-day orbit, the first close-up observations will be made around the end of August. After 1.9 billion miles and 5 years, JUNO hit within 2km of its target insertion point! Look at https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/juno/main/index.html to learn more and follow developments.
Congrats To NASA ! In future, I am expecting many new secrets of space will reveal. Progress in Space sector is important for Humans and Humanity. so once again Congrats to NASA,Keep going, best wishes for next projects.
I have always been fascinated by such NASA missions. The Juno one was amazing and I am sure there are even more impressive one prepared for the future.
