An inclusion would have dealt a blow to Alibaba but they lobbied hard to avoid being included on a U.S blacklist for sites that sell fake goods. Despite getting this victory, the company is expected to do more to stop the sale of pirated and counterfeit products on their site.

Does anyone who buys from sellers from alibaba.com expect top notch products?

People know they're buying counterfeit products, not to say that it should be a common sense to know that you can not get original products from at 30% of the normal retail price.

I've exited all long stock positions that are Chinese-based companies in the last few months, and that includes Baidu - a company that has always looked great on paper, and whose stock has made me a small fortune in recent years.

It is in their culture. They do not innovate or create, they copy.

Also, don´t get all depressed about ´counterfeits´.. Most of the time they are made in the same factories as the real deal. Nike shoes for instance, are like $100, but $50 of that just covers marketing. The actual factory and workers can and do make those same exact shoes for $20. In many cases, the same companies that are contracted to build and run factories for Nike, just build a couple extra nearby and run them independantly.

I thought everyone knew that Alibaba and Aliexpress are known for fakes. Lol. This blacklist thing is already active on the state level. Washington state has blacklisted orders and shipments from Aliexpress. I didn't think that was possible, but you literally can't put Washington as your shipping address on that website. If you look it up, the referendum was passed early last year that prevented shipments from Ali Express due to phonies in the past.
