Those investors thinking alternative energy investments are viable may want to rethink their decisions. Maybe a decade or two time horizon may work for some, but it won't work for me.</span></font>
http://www.nasdaq.com/article/what-happens-to-sunedison-inc-if-it-goes-under-cm600656 A follow-up piece on the SunEdison bankruptcy suggests a drastic restructuring may be in order, as there are some apparently valuable pieces of the company in play. So much for federal grants. And the link to the original post (above): http://dailycaller.com/2016/03/29/the-worlds-largest-green-energy-company-is-facing-bankruptcy/
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/su...0-after-report-of-bankruptcy-plans-2016-04-01 In after hours trading this evening, the share price of $SUNE fell another 50% from the close to a low of $0.22. Whoa.
The company hasn't made a profit in years, this really wasn't a huge surprise to me. I do love photovoltaic companies since I truly believe solar energy is the next big thing but I always stick with companies that can actually make money instead of losing it.
Well, the pvc isn't gaining until now? From what I remember, the solar energy companies are the star of the show, the darling of the crowd. Perhaps there is a need to for a new design of the solar panels, not the old photovoltaic cells which is not that efficient. As with the SunEdison shares, it should be gaining since consumers are now aware of alternative energy. So again, perhaps the solar panels do not serve their purpose and the efficiency of the system is just a hype.
In also not surprised to see this happen, as while renewable energy sources are big business, and in the future will continue to be so, I just think this company as gone about things all the wrong way, and bankruptcy comes as no surprise. The only surprise to me and probably for a lot of others, is that it hasn't happened sooner in all honesty.
Part of their problem is they are primarily just a boring manufacturing company that was priced like a higher tech company than they really were. With their manufaturing, there just was never a huge chance for a breakout and their valuation was just too high. I think what you will see if they break apart is that the really cool stuff, the high tech stuff, was a tiny part of their overall business, and the majority of where the business was were just overpaid factory jobs.
It has something to do with PVC panels or their design? May be. I also add lack of innovation and investment in newer technologies. It also has to do with the fact that most people are late adopters and prefer the more traditional methods of energy. Most of the people who use these forms of green energy are early adopters and they are only a small percentage of the population which is not enough to sustain the market.
