I find that religion can appear more dogmatic these days and even though there are the classic philosophers who may have been religious, that is not the case today. Even some philosophers can be narrow minded with their own vision and do not accept other premises, but philosophy should be about discussing theories and concepts, and accepting that there is more than one possible answer. In religion that is not always the case, and some aren't even prepared to discuss or listen, so how can that be philosophical? Obviously it does depend on what kind of religion, but even Buddhism where philosophy seems to be a key basis, they have defined beliefs too.
