Are our morals as a society being corrupted by internet pornography?

Not only by pornography, but porn is a good example as we don't have any sort of moral anymore. People trade their intimacy - meaning sex - for money, other people pay to see, are we all sick here?

 

Desensitization is what is happening here Gelsemium...hence your question, are we all sick here?!...i was reading some censored confessions online and i just couldn't go on{too much!!!}...people are coming out and confessing about doing horrid things..i can't even blurt out, have we become 'monkey see, monkey do' and at the end of the day we are cool about it?...are we zombies in the making...seriously?!...yes, morals have seeped down the drain and yes, we are sick and in need of medical moral help

 

So, it seems like your saying that it's not a problem. You could argue that it is only fantasy. My concern is that people are being introduced to ideas that they never would have imagined on their own. Such things as beastiality and other practices which I won't mention. Won't this lower our morals collectively over time. Today these things seem bazaar and tomorrow people will demand to marry their pets. I love my dog, but that's insane to me.

 

...I thought people are already doing that in India...marrying dogs and maybe its happening elsewhere but in silent tones until the day...it will be allowable and much more of a common thing...our morals are at an all time low...i don't know how lower they can get...its just crazy and the worst case scenario is ...help is invisible

 

I dont buy into the theory of porn being responsible for a decline in morality. Thats a simplification in my opinion. I do however think porn could be in a factor in the nations declining marriage and birth rates. More study is needed though.

Very well said Gats. What you see in pornographic films are too way unrealistic. It's like showing pleasure to the extreme! Of course people want that because people are naturally visual... but end up disappointed when the "actual" sex happens. LOL

 

That sounds like a stretch to me, I don't think there is a direct relation between that. Typically people don't have more kids because they don't have time and money.

 

If you watch too much porn, regular sex can be somewhat of a let down. It sets unrealistic expectations for what it's likely. Sex is ultimately supposed to be about intimacy. Pornography is anything but intimate. Kind of ruins the whole deal if you ask me. I'd rather have an intimate relationship rather than one that is as nasty and over the top as most pornography.

 

I do believe that pornograhy has corrupted out morals to some extent. But I do not think that is the sole reason. There are lots of other reason to.
