Growing up poor myself, I have made bad career decisions. It wasn't because I was lazy or didn't want to work for it. When you are strap for cash and do not have the resources to invest in yourself, you will do the unthinkable to pay the bills and put food on the table. I am not proud of the decisions that I made in the past, but in desperate times, you are left with very few options.
When people are broke they sometimes tend to make decisions out of desperation as opposed to thinking things out and coming up with the best long term decisions. Payday loans are a good example of this. Yes, you can get $500 right now to put food on the table or gas in the car, but you will have to pay that money back on your next payday with a lot of interest. If you put $20 in savings each week, you can save up that same $500 in a short period of time.
That is so true, because it really is just the survival instincts kicking in. You have to do what you have to do to bring home the bacon whenever you are poor.
All the people makes bad decisions in order to diverse circumstances, and it's sad that poor people don't have other choices, because the only thing that they want is surviving, no matter what it takes, and that obviously leads them to make bad decisions but also I think that they need to be careful...one bad decision can literally destroy their lives.
Have any of you guys hear read about Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs? It basically says that when a person hasn't met their basic needs like water, food and shelter then they won't be able to reach a higher point of self-actualization. There isn't security, there isn't a stability when it comes to identity and fanatical religion can brainwash them for lack of proper education.
