The term discharged when used with bankruptcy means the borrower is no longer has person liability for amounts owed. That can happen for a few different reasons. Maybe they settles on a final amount, maybe they became exempt due to a change in their status. Sadly this information and so much more is available on the internet. In the past it was available too, but you had to make a trip to public records, pay a fee and then you would know. Privacy is a very hot point these days. More and more apps and businesses are requesting information that was never requested in the past. It can give a business a market edge, or as we have seen it can kill a business if the information is somehow breeched. My advice, give information sparingly, no one has to know every single piece of your business.
