The story broke a couple of hours ago and, to my way of thinking, puts a dditional pressure on Rubio and Kasich to withdraw from the campaign. With Trump leading in Florida polls, next Tuesday should be quite interesting as we move to primaries in winner-take-all states.

It is doubtful it will matter, but it shows that the stunt Cruz played in Iowa had some payback. Personally to me it completely discredits Carson as a phony. Trump obviously has very little religion in him.. I am not going all Pope, but when he said his favorite bible verse was proverb that isn´t even in the Bible, and then the whole two Corinthian thing.

He needs a job, that is all.

Well, it does seem like a circus. After this will Carson lose supporters? Wouldn't it have been better not to support anyone right now? I do wonder who has been advising Carson as their policies have been all over the place.

I am also surprised with this thread. But the way it is going, it looks like the anti-Trump sentiment is confined to just a few. So if Carson is supporting Donald Trump then Kasich and Rubio and Ted Cruz are devastated. And I'm sure if Donald Trump becomes the official standard bearer of the Republican party then Kasich, Rubio and Ted Cruz will have no choice but to support their nemesis. But in fairness to Ben Carson, I think he is seeing the writings on the wall that Donald Trump is poised to win the nomination of the GOP.

Well, there are two different things at work here... The first thing is that there are probably a few of these guys who really believe their own ideals, and those are the politicians who are opposing Trump publicly... and likewise there probably are a few people who actually support him. But I think with Christie, and now Carson, you just have people betting on the horse that is winning. A lot of people who are in politics.. this is their career... so if you publicly bet against the guy who wins, it can mean the end of your career.

I will tell you what, Republicans in the house and those senators who are up for re-election this time are in a really compromising position. Trump is pulling 50% disapproval ratings and it will be hard to run with him in a lot of districts. They are all going to have to find canned answers to both seem loyal, and distance themselves at the same time.

I think Trump must have promised Carson a deal otherwise I am not sure why this would have happened. I just lost all respect for Carson know. If he is a man of the bible how could he endorse Trump who speews unrest and discontent? Trump is definitely not a turn the other cheek kind of person, and is an arrogant bully and blow hard. It would have been better for Carson to say nothing at all.

I'm a little surprised he is backing The Donald. I would have figured he'd endorse Cruz, considering his positions, and supposed religiosity. Regardless, at this stage, I doubt it has much impact.

I am not surprised at all, and saw this coming a mile off. They had virtually identical views, and I'm surprised he didn't drop out and endorse Trump earlier. I've always had a high opinion of him, and this just makes it higher.

It's certainly an interesting endorsement. Also courageous on some level, given the Living Media Firestorm that is Trump. I think what is especially noteworthy is that a candidate that is routinely smeared as a "racist" is being endorsed by a Black American former candidate. That is a HUGE ("YUUUUGE!") get for him. Although, even after Palin's endorsement it hasn't stopped the press from continuing to label him as a sexist, so...we'll see.

I'll be honest, I was pretty surprised by this endorsement. I thought Carson had more integrity than that. I thought that he was serious about being a Christian and advancing those principles and values. Apparently not. I assume Trump offered him a position in a possible administration. That's the only explanation I can think of for this.
