Thanks for the moral support. Once and a while my brain synapses fire. I did fail to suggest the increased tax revenue is not a license for the ececutive and legislative branches to spend those monies. Pay down the national debt. A family can't continually run up the credit card for an out of control household budget. Like the old pinball mechanical pinball machines that I used to play for 5 cents per game, the budget eventually goes "TILT" and you lose the game.

I never understood this. What do you not understand? Bush and Reagan were both small gov´t republicans who both increased the deficit in a huge way. Clinton was a democrat and was the only one who had a balanced budget (2 years) in the last 50 years. Why is free college education bad, but a dept of Homeland security that is a bloated mess that costs 100xs as much good?

One thing that has always separated the US from much of Europe and many other countries was a smaller federal government that did little more than provide for national defense.

It is not the federal government's job to provide freebies for half the country's population at the expense of the other half, nor for the government to take over private industries.

You should probably move to Europe.

Great post, but I think it will not be understood by those who need to understand it the most.

BTW, we're now taking in over $200 billion a month in taxes already. But the government keeps increasing borrowing and spending the more they take in.

Great post. If the loons like Sanders had their way, defense would be much closer to zero.

The net interest will of course go up when rates go up.

And socialism always fails, because the government eventually runs out of other people's money. Plus most wealthy people who publicly support it are actually privately against it or want to be exempted from it.

You should carefully look at that graph steaktartare posted - defense is a pretty small piece of the pie already. You need a strong national defense to keep loons like Putin and others in place, and to protect our interests.

Why don't you move to Europe if that's your ideal? Why waste your life here with us ignorant Americans who don't get it?

We spend far, far more on entitlements than on national defense. And if we had no national defense, no military, and tried to become isolationists, we'd soon be speaking Russian and starving to death.

You cannot tax your way to eutopia. Do you realize how bad off much of Europe has become? Much, much worse than us with their "free healthcare" and "free" education, etc.
