Bob Diamond Returns To London Financial Services

US financier Bob Diamond, the former boss of Barclays Bank, has been thrust back into the limelight as his Atlas Merchant Capital agrees the takeover of stockbroker Panmure Gordon. This is one of London’s most famous stockbrokers although the last few years have not been as successful as its early years due to ever-increasing competition in London. Atlas Merchant Capital was originally set up by Bob Diamond and works in tandem with Qatari investors. The fact that the group of Qatari investors already own 43% of Panmure Gordon stock means it should be a done deal.
