According to a CNN report, a US surveillance plane hovering around the South China Sea to check on the reported activities by China on the islands they are claiming was warned 8 times by the Chinese Navy who were believed to be among the sea vessels seen around one of the islands. The video they took showed military facilities being developed by China which is being considered as a threat to the US presence in Beijing. Here's a link to the story:

Cold war again, except with a few wrinkles. China and USA will play pokey chest with each other and spout rhetoric to keep its masses amused. In the meantime it will be business as usual in the back room. Unlike the Russia/USA cold war, China and USA need each other they are both economically dependent on each other. China needs a place to sell its manufactured goods, USA is dependent on these goods. Even American companies like Apple are highly dependent on Chinese components.

Anyway these things keep people distracted from real problems.

As far as I understand it, to the Chinese these islands are a part of China. Now obviously they will contact and turn away any foreign military aircraft entering their airspace... it's completely logical and any country will do the same. Once again: headlines for absolutely nothing.

China could be just crazy enough to cut ties with the United States, though. They're a big country with a massive production force and with cheap labor, whereas we rely on them to provide our day to day goods. We wouldn't starve if ties or cut, nor would they, but the American quality of life is built on luxury goods that China produces. We stand to lose more than they do.

That said, I doubt it would happen. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement as it stands, and there's no major reason to break it off. This military expansion is probably just a show of force saying 'don't ignore us' to the world.

The U.S claims that they should have access to "unfettered" access to international airspace, a sentiment the Chinese don't seem to share. Fact is the South China seas actually do belong to the Philippines, Taiwan and China. So technically, the U.S can't claim their plane was in international airspace. So being told to get out should have been expected. Or is the U.S like Russia, starting to flex some military muscles?

You fail to realize how interdependent the Chinese and US economies are. Officially USA has the policy that their military equipment should only contain components from US suppliers or trusted allies. This is no longer possible, much of the US military equipment has Chinese electronic components in it. To setup a new electronic component factory from start to finish takes 5 years. USA has 90 days stockpiled of missles for example. So after USA fires off all those missiles what are they supposed to do for the next 4 years and 9 months till their electronic component factory comes on line ?

Pretty much every electronic piece of equipment you own has some electronic component from China in it. By the same token, China is dependent on USA for markets and purchasing of certain types of raw materials or chemicals. They might be able to find other suppliers but it will be pretty difficult.

And what do you think would happen to China when all of North America and Europe would suddenly stop buying most of their goods? Theor economy would collapse overnight. All this talk of huge international crisis (WW3 if you want to go that far) is just stupid really, it won't happen because it makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE.

Let's see now, if there was a conflict, the US would stop trading as well as any other ally, that would include Europe. China owns most of our debt, and if they were eliminated then out debt would disappear also. Hmmmm, sounds like a decent reason why any self absorbed country would go to war. Eliminate its debt and the only country threatening to overtake them as the true superpower.

Research how long it takes to set up a electronics component factory from start to finish. It takes at least 5 years, the main reason is because during the first 4 years most of the components are defective until they work out all of the bugs in the factory. So USA gets their debt wiped out, but on the other hand they will have no electronic components for at least 5 years. China will just increase trade with Europe and Africa.

The main reason why China is pushing the railway across Russia to Europe is so they can transport freight by rail to Europe without using ocean transport. The main reason is USA has the largest and best navy in the world. Also transport by rail is the same price as ocean freight but more reliable and quicker. They plan to extend this railway into Africa.

So USA might get its Chinese share of the debt wiped out, but they will have no electronic components.

So US tries to "eliminate" China... you do realise you just used to word "eliminate" which means to completely wipe out. I'm sure the Chinese and their stockpile of hundreds of nuclear warheads would not take kindly to being eliminated... That is enough to level all of the major cities in the USA, even through the missile defence systems.

Think before you post people, think before you post.
