Beyond a college level class, would you recommend that the new investor take a comprehensive class online or locally? Do you think that there would be much benefit to it?
Learning new things is always beneficial. If it's investing and not trading you are talking about, then I don't really think these courses are necessary. To me it's about common sense, looking at the company and it's fundamentals, and then figuring out if it's worth to invest in. For trading it's a lot more complicated and a degree in psychology might be usefull. In any case, knowledge is never a bad thing. So if you have the chance to take one, do it.
As previously stated knowledge is never a bad thing but you should do your due dilligence on the course you are planning to visit! I suggest reading up on basic books before courses as well!
I suggest, you should take up a course offering Social Responsibility and Public Relations! There's so much to learn! Learning is a good investment.
Thanks for those tips on how we can further our education with the stock market. I never would have considered social responsibility and public relations.
I'd definitely look into taking classes. It sure wouldn't hurt, and it would definitely increase your ability to evaluate the market.
I agree with you. A lot of the information is out there for free on the internet. This forum is one of them, just lurk around and you'll pick things up pretty fast.
I think that while knowledge is very valuable, you wouldn't necessarily need to invest in paid classes. There is a plethora of free knowledge on the internet, be it on Youtube, blogs or forums like this one (which is very helpful), just search around a bit and you'll see that you learn a lot of new things and ideas just by talking to other people.
I agree with what you say Strykstar, if we set our mind into it we can learn it online of from books. Just take a look at our forum, what do we need classes for if we can post all the questions we want here?
