We all know that our government has done some pretty sneaky/insane things, and at one time or another anyone who theorized about such things were considered conspiracy nuts. Then we find out the gulf of tonkin, about prism, the syphillis experiments in tuskeegee, the leaked info about possible false flags being perpetrated to smear cuba by attacking our own citizens and blaming it on terrorism. These have all been documented and some of which has been disclosed by the freedom of information act. Do you think some of the attacks in the news are constructed for gun control purposes? That seems to be the general theory of conspiracy folks thats flosting around the net.

No, I don't believe in conspiracy theories and the worst thing is people post videos on YouTube trying to 'explain' them. I recall when the shooting of two journalists happened in Virginia, there were so many conspiracy theories on it saying they staged this to stimulate discussion on gun control. People tried to say the deaths weren't real, and the live shooting looked staged, the father of a victim looked to rehearsed, and other disrespectful things.

Yes, there maybe be staged things, but they go too far when deaths are involved.

The thing about conspiracy theories is that they're used to prove anything that flows your mind, which is really not something that I personally seek. We should bring conclusive arguments to the table, not something that you heard on a shady website on the Internet and you want to spread around. That's really counterproductive.

I don't really believe in conspiracies but I have watched a lot of documentaries on some of the bigger ones and some of the stuff in them does make some sort of sense, but saying that, I don't believe in them.

Not really a conspiracy but I do believe there is a lot more going on at Area 51 then what we know of. I'm not saying aliens or alien tech, I'm talking really advanced weaponry or advanced new aircraft being developed.

The government, and those that control it, have little concern for mere human lives. They have to kill people on a daily basis, both overtly as in the theater of war, or covertly when security concerns call for it.

The difference between taking innocent life, or taking those who are guilty, does not come into their calculations. There is an agenda at work, and all must be subjugated to realizing its fruition.

ps yes, I'm a crazy conspiracy theorist. Nothing has so far made me think I'm wrong.

Some people are WAY out there with theories that usually don't make sense when looked at objectively. One that comes to mind immediately is that the US govt plotted and planned 9-11 (or even just knew about it ahead of time and allowed it to happen). Government on the whole is just too inept for thousands to get together, plot such a thing, and not have anyone come forward before or after with proof of such a conspiracy. Some believe that this was all carried out so that govt could take over our lives, or so that Cheney could make more $ on his Halliburton stock when we later invaded Iraq.

With that said, I do not trust the government, and particularly the Obama administration. It's been proven time and time again that they lie, spin, intimidate and attack political adversaries through govt agencies, manipulate the media, etc. So I think that while many conspiracy theories are ridiculous, some things that are considered by some to be "conspiracy theories" are in fact all too real.

Pretty good array of perspectives in this forum. I agree for the most part that a lot of theory zset forth is just hocum, but I also believe like has been said "past events are the best predictor of future ones." When things like the "fast and furious" operations were exposed and so on and so forth it makes me either distrust government or at least question our leaders competency.

I've heard of that one about 9-11 as well. Whether it's the same one or connected to the same pie, it's said that the Bush administration carried out the attacks so they could justify their attacks against Afghanistan and Iraq so that they could get the oil.

Going a little deeper I've seen theory's stating that a missile was fired from the second plane that hit the towers, a cruise missile hit The Pentagon and the most far out one is that Flight 93 never existed.

Some of this conspiracy stuff just comes from emotions, but most of it just comes from ignorance or a lack of understanding of how things actually work. For instance, a few months before 9-11 Condy Rice got a memo that said that terrorists could use planes as missiles. So right away our emotions and outrage lead us to believe that the Bush administration did nothing to stop it. But the fact is that Condy Rice probably receives 10 memos like that every day about possible terrorist targets or methods among hundreds of other memos she probably had to read every day about intelligence issues.

I don´t really consider it a conspiracy theory ( but does anyone who believes in one think it actually is one). But one thing that I do not like is the military PR and how they create heroes. For instance, the American Sniper and Jessica Lynch. The PR machine made them out to be GI Joe and GI Jane for recruiting purposes, and it turns out almost the entire story behind both of them was just pure hollywood fiction. I think the american people are tricked into glorifying troops by the defense department in order to help with recruiting. If you love the troops, then you want them to be home with their families.

Hmm I don't know about those gun control conspiracies because the only conspiracies I know of are those of the UFO, Illuminati, Man on the Moon and NAZI kinds. Gun control is relatively new in the conspiracy talks along with 9/11 so we'll see where that goes and I know because I'm online in a lot of conspiracy forums. Conspiracy is formed by a bit of propaganda, madness and fear so I don't think anyone should count on it as fact.
