According to the news I just heard lately, unequal pay for women who do the same work as men still exists in the US and other parts of the world. A dollar's salary for men is equivalent to 78 cents for women and it's even lower for African-American women and Latinas. If the next president of the United States would be a woman, do you think equality would finally be felt?
This is not really up to the president. However she surely will talk about female rights.. whether or not she will do anything about it is different but it's the perfect way for her to lure in some female voters who are probably already excited about having a female running for presidency.
I do believe that Hilary Clinton would discriminate against men, yes. This is one reason I would prefer a male president, they are less obsessed with identity politics.
Those stats are misleading. It has been shown that the main reason women on average earn less is due to choices they make - what many major in in college, women taking time off from work to have children, etc. Men and women who have similar skills and do the same work for the same amount of time are paid similarly.
If she was elected as the next president she will pay more attention to that issue more then any previous president that's for sure. It is up to the employer to hire and follow anti discrimination practices when hiring new employees.
I love the way you put it. There is a very fine line between "equal rights for women" and discriminating against men. Some people manage to stay on the right side of the line but mostly it just becomes "give this and this and this and this" to women. And I also agree with JR, a lot of these statistics are flawed. If you look at the hourly wage of a male and female worker with the same skillset, education and experience, doing the same work for the same company, I doubt there will be a 20% difference.
Well it will be up to the Corporations to decide whether Hillary "discriminates" against men or not. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/04/15/bernie-sanders-hillary-clinton_n_7074500.html Quite right. But the Senator is also lying. All elected leaders inevitably end up doing the billionaire's/elite's bidding. Equality? Not much will change IMHO.
The pay inequality issue has already been addressed, so I won't cover that again. On a broader scope, though, no, I don't think Hillary is going to change much. The answer from this crew is always the same: more government, more government, and, let's see, oh yah ... more government!
