Yes, with the biotechs it's all about the news - event driven... clinical trials, FDA decisions, M&A, etc.

When they gap up big on news released outside of market hours, and I DON'T already own them, I usually don't buy them right then. I usually put them in my watch list and wait for them to eventually cool off and start dropping double digits - which may be the next day, or may be longer.

When they gap DOWN double digits on bad news, or fall down double digits after a recent big jump, that's when I buy.

I will buy some of a stock on the odd occasion when news breaks DURING market hours, and will generally sell at least some when it hopefully runs up on the good news... or I may take a small short position when BAD news is released during market hours that I will cover that same day - hopefully for a nice gain.

On actual short stock positions, I rarely take them on these small, volatile companies in these more volatile industries. If I do, it's usually in and out in the same day. I'm much more inclined to use put options (if I can get them) to bet against more volatile, high-beta stocks. I'm more likely to take an actual short stock position on a lumbering giant like GM or GE than on a smaller company, or even on a more volatile large company's stock like AMZN.

I'm definitely familiar with CRBP, CONN, GALT, BSPM, NVAX, SPHS, GBIM, CARA, GLMD, SAEX, AEGR, BLRX, MRNS, SGYP, TKAI, ARRY, RGSE...

I bought some ARRY on 8/9 @ ~ $3.40 when it sold off hard overnight. Sold it yesterday @ $6.

Sold this one today, after buying it on 8/4:

So with two BMB members into biotech, what'cha think of $GILD as a value investment? I see a variety of opinions ranging from don't touch to buy, buy, buy. Sector discussion webinar today suggests the health sector (among others) as a conservative approach no matter which way the election goes or rates change.
