Eastern religions teach immortality through reincarnation. Christians, Muslims, Pagans and others can't seem to agree on this. Some think the evil souls will be destroyed at the end of the ages, another group thinks the souls of the dead have a special place where they live while another group believes souls live on either in eternal bliss or eternal suffering. What do you think? Are souls immortal?
I'm not a big fan of the whole "soul" concept. I haven't given it much thought but I always think of my body as a single entity. And my consciousness coming from the brain... not from some magical soul thingy. So I guess you could say I don't think that we have a soul.
I'm also not really a believer of this soul idea either to be honest. It's quite hard to think that every person as a soul, and isn't just made up of molecules and matter, and when that dies it just dies. I like the idea of it, don't get me wrong but I just don't and can't believe it no matter how much I want to.
I think your soul leaves your body when you die, and beyond that I really don't know. I am wondering if you go to heaven briefly, and then are reincarnated into another body. Sometimes your soul may be trapped on earth. I just hope there is no Hell, I am not so sure I wouldn't end up there! I think some energies are trapped here on earth. This may be the reason for ghosts and poltergeists, their souls can not rest.
I'm not really sure I believe all this stuff about their being a soul. Like a lot of this sort of stuff, I'm on the fence about it and I'm open to the idea, rather than outright dismissing it. I think about the brain sometimes and it makes me wonder about when we think. I mean I know it's to do with all the functions of the brain and stuff but when I really think about it it makes me wonder if that is somehow connected to a soul somehow. I also think about the feeling of feeling bad when we have done something wrong. Is that our soul telling us that it's not happy with something we did?
I believe people have souls. I believe that once we die our is "recycled" and our lives reincarnated. I believe we exist in cycles to learn from our previous lives and obtain good or bad karma. I believe animals have collective souls and human beings have old and new souls in them. The concept of the soul is immortal, we all exist, we all have weight, we are all made of dark energy from space-- stuff that scientists can't explain yet. I think it's naive to dismiss something we don't understand just because we can't accept it. There are a lot of unexplainable events out there.
If a soul is immortal then what happens to it when the Earth gets destroyed by the expanding Sun, and to a more extreme event, what happens when the Universe itself eventually dies? Crazy stuff to think about it but when the final end comes, like the Universe dying and assuming our souls have continued on for that long, AND assuming souls do exist, would they then go on to some sort of afterlife or Valhalla or something?
What evidence is there of a "soul" in the supernatural sense of the word? Our mind is an emergent property of our brain function. And the term "soul" can be applied in a metaphorical sense as to one's character, emotional state, etc. But an immortal, non-corporeal entity that survives death .... eh, that is a matter of faith.
Well given the idea of the word soul I would think that it can be immortal. It is hard to say since there are so many possibilities to how souls roam in this world after death. The souls that are trapped in this world would be haunting whatever spot they died. Some folks think that we just stay in eternal darkness when we die where everything is pitch black and we do not go to heaven or hell. We would know once we do die in this world whether heaven or hell are real. Its up to you if you believe souls are immortal or not. I think that they live on forever and can be reincarnated as a new person or animal. That would be the most common assumption about souls being immortal since they come back as a new lifeform.
