How would you explain the return of Elijah as it is promised in the Old Testament? And Jesus confirmation: So obviously Elijah did come but because the Jews didn't recognize him they did to him whatever they wished. If this isn't proof of reincarnation then I don't know what is. I'm not saying John the Baptist was Elijah but his denial that he wasn't Elijah doesn't alter the fact that Jesus KNEW Elijah had come.
Because somebody comes back isn't reincarnation so to speak. Jesus will come back, but it is never described as his reincarnation. As I stated before a reincarnated person has no knowledge of any previous existence. and is described as something wholly different from Elijah or Christ returning. The irony here is that John the Baptist was Elijah although he himself did not know it as John 1:21 proves...'And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.'... Now whether he actually was Elijah or just had the spirit and power of Elijah as Luke 1:17 states ('And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias,) you can make your own mind up, but I am convinced John was not actually Elijah the Tishbite but the symbolic Elijah, just as Jesus was described as David in Ezekiel 34:23. And besides, one has to agree you need to die before you can reincarnate, but Elijah never actually died, he was taken to heaven without seeing death 2 Kings 2:11 So to attempt to use Elijah as proof of reincarnation is a non-starter.
I think souls are eternal and can be transferred from one body to another. I think souls only have a memory when they are in a body and after death, the memory is erased away and then the soul starts all over in a new body.
No, no, no. Yes, souls ARE eternal and DO incarnate, from time to time, "from one body to another". However, the very purpose of reincarnation is to experience physical life, and thereby learn, grow, develop and deal with carma. This would all be pointless if the soul couldn't remember the lessons learned.
I think the Spirit - The extended part of the soul in humans cannot live in others, while spirit beings (angels and fallen angels) can...as Christians are said to have the Holy Spirit (Gods Spirit) in dwelt, and come the end the Antichrist 'Lawless One' shall be fully in dwelt with Satan's spirit. Also scripture talks of many people being possessed by evil spirits (demons) And as I mentioned earlier John the Baptist had the spirit of Elijah. But apart from the spirit beings (angels and fallen angels) I don't believe we can inhabit anyone else nor they inhabit us. There is no scriptural evidence of such as far as I am aware.
So was Jesus lying when He said Elijah had come? His statement wasn't one which was open to interpretation. It was a fact. Elijah had come. He didn't say it was John. It's the Gospel writers who attempted to fill in the blanks. Does one have to die before their souls are placed in another body? Have you heard of walk ins?
No Jesus was not lying, as I have said John the Baptist said "no" when asked if he was Elijah, so it seems obvious that the 'Spirit' of Elijah had come as scripture via Luke 1:17 attests...''And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias," As for walk-ins I have heard all manner of weird things - It doesn't mean I believe them.
The Soul in immortal but it doesn't always incarnate on earth. Many people have issues with this because people want proof and quite simply there can never be definitive proof. Even when people can recount previous lives it is not enough, but I think people fear immortal souls. These are those who don't wish to believe in karma, because if it were true then all the bad deeds done will come back and have to be repaid. Many prefer not to think like that so they don't have a conscience. As for parallel universes, does the same soul exist with different experiences? I don't believe in the soul splitting, but if it is in another dimension then it's possible that is why somethings may seem familiar for no apparent reason too if the souls are linked.
Yep, the soul or what animates our body doesn't have to be in a person, as we have flaws either many times those flaws need to be destroyed before we reincarnate again.
It's not what we think, it's what the word of God says that matters. The soul is immortal and will either live for eternity in heaven, or live for eternity in hell.
