There's no denying the fact that females are better at anything [or businesses] which involve dealing with people. They are so good at it, some researchers say, that they [female real estate agents] on average, sell homes, land, etc faster and at higher prices than their male counterparts. If this is a fact, should anyone interested in real estate opt to hire only female real estate agents?
I think that would have to be a matter of opinion. I don't think you can put if o be person is better at a certain thing than another, down to just their sex. I think you need to look at the bigger picture than just going off if they're female or not.
While I agree to the fact that women do have a certain charm that men don't have when it comes to selling but I think it's not really a good idea to hire only females as real estate agents. I think it still depends on a person's characteristics and way of dealing with people. Men can also have the ability to charm potential buyers in purchasing their product. A lot of practice and patience can make this possible.
A lot will also depend on the experience of the person you are looking to hire aswell. If you don't take into consideration anything other than the sex, then I think your going to be missing out on a lot of potential candidates.
Gender is not a factor in the decision making for on this front. The realtors I've dealt with in the last decade or so are a husband-wife team and I've found them the best to handle deals.
At the risk of sounding "sexist", I will attribute the large ratio of female to male real estate agents and their higher likelihood of success to 3 factors: 1) Females in general tend to make people feel "safe" and often have that natural "homemaker" quality that enables them to connect with people when showing and selling homes. 2) Attractive females or those with great personalities (or both) can be very convincing to both men and women. 3) Since it's usually a straight commission occupation, and men are still more often the primary earners in households, it's generally more likely that females will get into this field and stay with it for months, years, or longer. A husband won't likely quit his upper 5 or 6 figure or higher career to pursue real estate full time, and may not even have the time and energy to do it part time. The wife who is a homemaker or works a part time job or lower paying job that does not contribute greatly to household income is more likely to take a chance in real estate once the kids are grown or whatever. Flame away.
No flaming here @JR Ewing, that makes sense. I can well imagine a female estate agent being much more descriptive about things, she'd describe a "convenient storage area" whereas a male agent would call it "space under the stairs".
I really like working with female real estate agents because they can often offer creative opinions on a house that some men would not see. Not saying that men can't be interior designers or anything like that, but it seems as though many more women are just into the whole idea of decorating more than men and can give buyers great ideas on how to enhance the look of a home.
