In the US, the word 'polygamy/polyandry' is almost a taboo, and if you ask people what they'd want from their partners/spouses, nine out of ten times you'll hear the word, 'fidelity'. But do we really believe it? Our media is over-saturated with infidelity. Every TV show, every movie has some form of infidelity. In fact, the more infidelity and cheating a TV drama has, the more ratings a TV show gets. For people who vehemently propose the idea of 'till death do us part', it kinda sounds a bit hypocritic, don't you think?
