When currency devaluates, people flock to precious metals. The US dollar dropped 30% over the last 10 years against most Asian currencies. Has the US dollar finished its drop ?
The U.S dollar has stabilized and it's value has been steadily going up. However, there have been predictions that there will be a recession in the near future. At that time, the USD's value will begin dropping again.
The euro is really going down. It has been a long time since the USD - EUR exchange was like it is now, and the ECB have announced a gargantuan quantitative easing (a.k.a. printing loads of money) program which will only make it go down.
Recently, the US dollar has been held stable, but that's not to say that it will fluctuate greatly on a quarterly basis. With oil prices dropping the way they have been, many other commodities and currencies have been changing vastly as well. Right now the World Bank isn't in a state of tranquility and balance and because of that, the US currency will continue to inflate and deflate in response to the rest of the world's supply and demand.
The value for the US dollar seems to fluctuate constantly. It would never stay the same with all the politics going on over seas. The economy itself is just going back and forth on the boat just hope it don't sink any further. I still do not have a job yet, but I think the value would go down regardless of the job market.
The dollar is anything but stable, at least comparing to the euro. It has been worth more and more in the last weeks, it's already at 0,86 and still rising.
For the next few years the US dollar will be stable. USA seems to be pulling out of the crisis, and USA has managed to survive the banking crisis. The major threat USA has it the BRIC countries, and will they be able to organize a currency to compete against the USA dollar. With Russia having problems right not this is not likely.
The euro has not been doing well. I recently bought a little euros with a few dollars and immediately bought some gold with the euros.
