Given how the superdelegates are voting, and how he is already trailing massively, what hope at all is there of Bernie winning the democratic nomination? I'm surprised how favourable his odds are, personally I would generously put him at 50/1, not the 10/1 he currently stands at.

Silly premise, silly question. Hillary has all the votes, judging by polls from states yet to vote, she needs. Super delegates will not abandon the annointed one. The Justice Department won't present the email business to a grand jury. Her questionable health issues will be ignored. Trust issues will be ignored. Sanders may get to speak about the Democrat platform planks at the convention, but he certainly won't be the nominee. If, and that is a very big if, Hillary were to drop out for some reason, I believe Biden would be drafted and nominated by a unaminous vote of delegates.

Yeah, it's really sad for Bernie Sanders who is trying his best to beat Hillary to the debates. From my point of view, he won in almost all the debates over Hillary but we all know that debates don't make a candidate. It is the grasp with the voters, this time the delegates. And Hillary has the numbers so it's not the debates but the influence or connection no matter how you look at it. But politicians have that trait of never say die even if the odds are clearly against them, they fight to the end. Sorry for good old Bernie.

Sanders has had a big influence even without getting within grabbing distance of the prize. He shifted Hillary's positions and presentation palpably towards more socialist positions and demonstrated that unabashed socialist democracy positons have mainstream appeal. A Sanders-lie candidate with better minority appeal could have seriously upset her apple cart.

But on the other hand this is also evidence of this move towards the extreme in politics not just in the US but the UK (Corbin) and Germany where regional elections showed great increases in the vote for far left and far right parties.

Yeah, Sanders has done his best, but I think he is basically out of it at this point. I mean even if he had been able to win the nomination he would be another Michael Dukakis or George McGovern maybe winning a state or two, and that would be it. It is sad, but I don't think the US is ready for Bernie. This is just one of the things that is true about the United States.

After losing tonight in Florida it will be mighty difficult for Bernie to beat Hillary. It is a shame the selection we the voters have to choose from. In my opinion they are all a bunch of lying, conniving, two faced, backstabbing, mudslinging, name calling, misleading, bickering jerks that are shameful to our heritage and our country.
This election seems more like some kind of a reality TV show for “want to be politicians” than the fact it is actually we the people voting for the next President of Our United States. If it were my privilege to vote today I honestly do not know how or who I would choose.

I don't think he has a chance at this point. None of the polls or predictions put him at winning, though he is still doing pretty well in the popular vote. It's definitely been an interesting campaign to watch though and I appreciate his unique perspective and the attention he's brought to a lot of issues. Also, I think it's good that he's got a lot of young voters excited, I think we will have a huge voting turn out this year and that is nice to see.

I really cannot see him pulling this one off, although he does seem to be gaining a little momentum, but it really seems to be too little too late, which is really disappointing. I just think that he is a better candidate and the better option for the Democrats to oppose the Republican nominee. We shall see though...it will an interesting race.

He really can't. He's doing a lot better in the primaries than most assumed he would, but it is still a very long shot. Even if he did, I'm pretty sure the DNC would pull some superdelegate shenanigans. I can't believe I'm saying this because I'm ideologically opposed to Sanders, but that would simply not be right in a democracy, and the man should get a fair up or down vote.

That said, if in some sort of bizarre-o world scenario in which he got the nomination, we'd also see the largest GOP landslide in recent history too. True, he has some hardcore supporters, but I have a hard time believing a cranky 74-year old, with minimal political successes, with (quite literally) zero private sector experience, who honeymooned in Moscow, and is a self-described Socialist farring very well in a General election.

From the very beginning everyone knew that Sanders wouldn't beat Hillary. Though he has done better than was expected, it isn't good enough. Sanders supporters are hoping Clinton will be indicted and he probably hopes so too which is why he'll keep fighting and losing to the bitter end.
