Initially, I thought he was the one who would take a lot of votes. He's not crazy in his statements like Donald Trump. His policy is filled with moderation. However, yeah. Something is wrong.
As much as Sanders speaks with the 'common man' in mind, his policies are not compatible with the current system. Clinton will win, but his campaign does force her to look at certain policies and issues and then to adapt them. He maybe popular, but remember he is an Independent Senator too.
I really don't get why Bernie Sanders is so popular. I've watched him many times and the guy doesn't have a clue about the monetary policy, of foreign affairs and so on. Even Ben Carson would be a much more better president than Bernie, who is more of the grandpa type rather than the agile politician type.
Bernie is trying his best. But to be absolutely honest, at this point, he has got almost no chance of being the nominee. This is mostly because of the fact that politics in the US (and all other countries for that matter) are governed by either money or fear, and a sensible proposal, though it may get popular, will inevitably drown under the weight of the constant bawling of the money controlled media and the fear controlled public leaders. And add to that the almost unfounded paranioa the common people have about the term socialism in America, (whatever it might mean actually, people will equate it with communism).
Bernie never really had a chance to win the nomination. His biggest impact is bringing Hillary more to the left. In that regard, he has accomplished his goal.
It is not likely that he will win. I don't think he ever had a chance but he did what was expected from him. I mean with the numbers and maybe even more than people believed. He is doing his best but he probably wont be a nominee. I do not know why people in the U.S do not like the socialist part of his democratic views but it is a big turn down obviously. I think there was a discussion here about socialism and Americans and the thing is that those who live better are afraid they will loose their status in socialist regime.
It is crazy, they just announced he raised $44M in March. $44 million for a primary candidate who is losing... I am not saying Sanders is the leader of a revolution, but a revolution is coming. Between Ron Paul last time, Trump and Sanders this time.... the tide is definitely turning and something drastic is going to happen within an election or two, and there is going to be a serious change in our two party system. All 5 people still in the race each have their own core group that do not mix well. A lot of people are going to feel unrepresented in a 2 person general election.
Some voters are also pretty much agist. By the time the elections start, Bernie will be 75. Some people see that as an obstacle for him. In their opinion, 75 is not the best age to rule the country.
As far as I know, both Trump and Clinton are not in their 70s yet. So, they will have their first term finished by that age.
He can't win. He's too extreme. And the Democratic Party primary was clearly rigged in favor of Hillary Clinton. That a socialist, who didn't even have a job until he was 40 was able to gain so much traction in the primary should be a warning sign for Hillary Clinton. She's just not a particularly good candidate. She's sketchy and doesn't connect with people at all. The general election should be very interesting.
