How Long Will Worldwide Interest Rates Take To Get Back To More Traditional Levels?

Despite the fact we are 10 years on from the greatest collapse in the worldwide economy in living memory, worldwide interest rates are nowhere near back to pre-collapse levels. How long will it take for worldwide interest rates to get back to more traditional levels? Or are we simply living in a new economic world which could last for many years to come?

 

I fear we are stuck in this low interest rate environment for many years to come. Businesses and governments around the world have racked up enormous amount of debt and any significant increase in interest rates will crush their ability to repay. Then again, any economic recovery based on low interest rates/low cost finance could be described as fatally flawed?
