How much is your portfolio up... or down this year, starting from January 2014? Currently I am up roughly ~14-15% since the start of the year.
My two largest holdings are both in the Canadian Market. -> Badger Daylighting YTD: +24% https://www.google.ca/finance?q=TSE:BAD&ei=e9OkU7ioJMqyiQKHt4GgDw -> Auto Canada YTD: +87% https://www.google.ca/finance?q=TSE:ACQ&ei=o9OkU6inNOSCiALsnYGQAQ Had a very small position in Tweed and took a -28% dive, but sold it a few days ago. Also had POT for a period of time, but exited that as well (trivial profit).
Nice, have you calculated your overall gains though? I haven't had any big losses only a couple good gains and a couple that basically be stalemate. I hold mainly bluechips atm, your portfolio is probably quite a bit more volitatle than might I am gonna guess from what you shared so far.
Roughly 15%. Killing it on energy, crude, and a few tech plays here and there. Most put positions, S&P short ETF, and cash are dragging me down a little.
I do not day trade stocks, but I do have a 403B plan through work and it is doing pretty well at the moment. I think I was up 12% a few days ago when I last checked my account. I do remember that I was losing money around Christmas time.
Since the start of the year I am up roughly 11.8% and today so far I am up just 0.15%. However, my portfolio is shown as being up 127% since the start of the year, namely because I deposited enough money to slightly more then double its size since the start of the year.
Since the start of the year I am actually down by 12.36% if my calculations are correct. It's not the biggest loss in teh world, and it's possible that it may turn up again if I'm lucky, after all, there is still much time left of 2014. I hope I will go up soon, I'm just so pessimistic, and I feel like it's the end of the world just because I've lost "some" money.
I'm up somewhere around 8%. I haven't been as diligent with stocks this year, and I'm letting some of them sit around and collect dust. It's been a busy year, but I'm hoping to hit at least 10% for 2014 after all is said and done. A few moves between now and December should help, as long as everything goes according to plan, obviously.
I haven't bought so many new stocks this year since I have only collected dividends on stocks I currently own, so I have made only 6-7% growth this year. Almost a quarter the stocks I own pay monthly dividends.
Things have been a bit stale for my the past few months. I started the year really well so I hope to have a strong finish. Overall I am up about 3% so not too bad but this summer has really slowed down what could have been a record breaking year for me.
