Investing in real estate in lieu of 401K

    Since the 401K is not that common here, some employees with fixed income are inventing their own retirement packages. One scheme is the investment in real estate. A good lot can be bought in installment although it involves a downpayment. But employees tend to save money for the downpayment to pursue their dream. When they retire, the lot is theirs and they can build a small house maybe to rent it out. And if they don't have their own house then a duplex will do or an apartment. The rent is intended for their daily expenses.
