A church of Cannabis? That would be bad enough. But to add insult to it all . . . they won't pay taxes just like any other churches. Information gleaned from several sites online indicates that the church which will be known as the "Hemp Temple" will smoke will have marijuana as their sacrament. They'll smoke it in church although consumption of marijuana is illegal in the State. But hey, it's only in Indiana where they've got religious freedom . . .

First Scientology now this. In Jamaica smoking weed is part of their religion. So this is not too far of a stretch. If you believe that we are intergalactic beings then you belong with Tom Cruise and John Travolta in the nut house. But I tell you man, if you want to make serious money, just make up a religion and prey on the weak minded looking for answers. You'll be rich in a few years.

Why should other churches have tax exempt status but not these guys? They have the necessary paperwork, they are a 100% legal and official church, just like all the ones belonging to the major religions.

You have many different churches similar to this, like The Church of Bacon (they do not claim tax exempt though, as they believe NO CHURCH should have tax exempt status) and Church of the Flying Spaghetti monster.

All 100% official churches, thus them and their members should have the exact same rights as any other church or members belonging to any other church.

All I have to say is go-figure! I am not sure how the IS is even allowed to make that call because Marijuana is still illegal on a federal level, and isn't the IS a federal institution?

The IRS didn't waste any time. Too bad they have taken so long in the last 5 years to grant tax-exempt status to Republican / "tea party" owned orgs - some are still waiting apparently.
