While Amazon shares have bounced a little from their recent low of around $1500 we have seen a significant drop from the $2000 level. Would further weakness in the technology/e-commerce sector signal a buying opportunity for a company which is set to dominate e-commerce for many years to come?

For some reason the market got exceptionally spooked when the company announced a free delivery day? Markets don’t tend to get so spooked when it comes to such short-term promotions, is this just a sign of current market volatility?

This fall did look over done the other day - however, I am not convinced the market consolidation is over just yet. There might be some relief today about the US elections but that could be short lived :(

Amazon shares are very volatile at the moment - if the market/company has a few bad days you could pick up some very cheap stock for the longer term. Watch this one very very carefully.

For those brave enough to take a long term approach to investment, surely it is worth starting to pick up Amazon shares? As one market for the company seems to slow they simply enter another. Very proactive and very powerful - that might be the real issue going forward, how powerful the company is.

Personally I think it is time to start buying small batches on stock price weakness. Long term I dont really see any problems - the company has not gone ex-growth!

All of the big players are prone to volatile movements every now and again amid concerns "the story is coming to an end" or "the stock has gone ex-growth". Amazon is nowhere near any of these scenarios so in my view its time to start picking up small bundles of stock on weakness. Starting this week :)

Like someone said elsewhere, the greatest threat to Amazon is its influence and market share. This is just a short term blip in the long term success story that is Amazon. I will be picking up small bundles of stock, taking advantage of current weakness.

That has been a fairly decent bounce back from the recent lows! This company just keeps on ploughing ahead with a tried and tested strategy. A backbone investment for any long term portfolio?

While there are those who will chase the next emerging trend, I prefer to give my portfolio a backbone of steady companies which are leaders in their fields. Amazon falls into that category.
