Clever move - acting sooner rather than later to raise cash. Also increasing the investment of Elon Musk has grabbed the headlines - is this enough? Time will tell....
There is still a problem here, the margin on the more popular electric cars is minimal (some people suggest Tesla is still making a loss per car) so is this just a case of throwing good money after bad? Or will this allow Tesla to slash costs, increase margins and start producing positive cash flow?
Personally I would have expected a far greater bounce in the share price as the issue of funding appears to have been the main concern of investors of late. The fact the fund raising was oversubscribed and had to be increased should surely have given investors the green light to "fill their boots"? Again, something does not smell right about this
Looks to me like Tesla may have left this fund raising too late - I would have expected the initial relief recovery in the share price to have followed through but the shares are being sold down again. Does this put the fund raising at risk? If so where would that leave Tesla?
Wow! Tesla hits a new recent low! Has the company left it too late to raise funds? While it is fair to say that markets have turned against investors in general, Tesla is now below the level at which it announced the fundraising. Where is the relief buying ahead of completion of the fundraising? Are there doubts the fundraising will go ahead?
This is all getting very very serious for Tesla now - investors are losing confidence and I would expect to hear a not too positive update on the fund raising very soon. Will it even go ahead?
