I was just thinking... if a country would go sticking its nose into issues where there *were* no interests (hidden or otherwise)... well, wouldn't *that* be a good reason for the world to jump on them, too? It's like "Why the heck is XYZCountry sticking its nose into the affairs of ABC when they have no national or economical interests there? Danger, danger! Watch that place!"

One of those damned if ya do, damned if ya don't catch22's, methinks. Squawkers will squawk if a government intervenes where it has interests, but call the same government a bully if they get involved in a place that "minds its own business and ___ should stay out of it."

I recall a few years ago when Indonesia invaded Timor, anyone said anything? No one cared and the US could not care less because there's no oil in Timor or any strategic interest, so enough said.

Yes, many higer-ups on both sides wanted to go in for many years prior to Dubya getting into office.

Nice list of quotes from U.S government officials but it is only rhetoric. Has anyone ever heard of a Scud missile hitting its target over 500k?

As for Hussein being a murdering s.o.b, no doubt about it but the Iran, Iraq war was a contrivance of U.S making and the U.S, U.K and France fed Iraq with weapons, chemical weapons and even satellite data for deploying the poison gas. Saddam Hussein suddenly became the 'bad guy' only when he disobeyed Washington on the oil.

I have watched Kerry, Rumsfeldt, Cheyne, Bush, Blair, Obama etc lie lie lie like there is no tomorrow. All hot air and false claims or equally complicit. Youtube Jen Psaki and watch her squirm or Kerry banging on outraged about East Ukraine requiring Jews to register, as if it is a fact when it is a complete fraud. Anything to drum up war.

In June 2003, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz said, “Let’s look at it simply. The most important difference between North Korea and Iraq is that economically, we just had no choice in Iraq. The country swims on a sea of oil.” In January 2003, British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw admitted that oil was a key priority to the West’s involvement in Iraq. Former Chairman of the Federal Reserve, Alan Greenspan, said “I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil.

WMD's and bogeymen are the cloak of big business, exactly the same as "Bringing Freedom and Democracy", its all designed to get the pack onside... 'Treat them like mushrooms'.

The point was that it was lots of Dems mentioned WMD when a post seemed to indicate it was a republican issue.

OMGGGGGGGGGGGG! Casper just put Obama and one of his top dudes, Kerry in the same sentence as Bush and Cheney!. Call the presses, quick. Oh wait, I *am* the press. Are you giving interviews, Casper? You are an enigma. No one is safe when Casper starts swinging! :D

Oh, that Jewish registration thing... not a fraud, my friend. East Ukraine... NYTimes... or are all major newspapers full of it, too, in your eyes?

It didn't happen this time... people *DO* remember history. But again, the point is that they TRIED and you called it a fraud. Why?

Correct. That's the point. Many higer-ups on both sides wanted to go in for many years prior to Dubya getting into office. Anything else but an acknowledgement of that is just partisan clouding of the issue. Many in power wanted to do it going back many years, almost all of those in power voted for it, and when it didn't turn out so great, the Bush admin made a great scapegoat.

Fair point JR and I clarify, I am not coming at this from a partisan view. It seems self evident that the U.S and many other nations have what is termed a 'Left Twix, Right Twix' party system which guarantees the 'core policy' of promoting wars and mayhem across the globe, especially the Middle East and Eastern Europe. This is patently for economic gain by Big Corporations... (be damned with the people and that includes the American people)...be they in Banking, Energy, Pharma or a number of other sectors.

Profit for the rich seems to massively outweigh any social respect.

The irony is, social responsibility (when it is not being used as a pretext for war), seems to be derided but it is perfectly acceptable to socialise the massive debt of the fraudulent banking system at the expense of the people.

I think the 'revolving door' syndrome where politicians/ex politicians and civil servants constantly move from the public sector to the private sector is in large part responsible for the corruption.

But then that is just my, (and millions of others) opinion; as you and millions of others hold different views. :)

Good to share and learn though.

Not sure where you get that Kate. People had enough of Bush and turned to Obama for 'The Change' but that didn't come... just more of the same which is probably why he is currently polling as the worst American president... even outstripping Bush.

Quite right too. They are all as bad as one another IMO.

Exactly. The NYT says there is no evidence and it was denied vehemently. On top of that it is inconsistent with the policies and aims of the Donetsk Peoples Republic. But Kerry publicly pushed it as FACT, whilst denying Kiev was heavily influenced by The Right Sector/Nazi's who are in every major government position.

It cuts both ways with claims by unknown people showing 'Yatsenyuk giving Nazi salutes' but Kerry should know better in his position. See:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywfzniko4vQ

There is no evidence that they 'tried' and Kerry should know better than to push it as a fact and to fear monger from it. It is no different to the fake reports of babies being taken from their incubators in Kuwait. It is all about justifying the unjustifiable by misinforming the people.

Um... did you actually read that link I pasted, Casper? It said nothing of the sort. It said Donetsk People’s Republic DENIED having been responsible, no one's denying that it happened.
