I am of Native American ancestry on both sides of my family - not 100%, but a significant amount. The remainder of my ancestry is western European - and those people all came here after the Civil War with little or no money in their pockets. No one in my family tree ever owned a slave, and barely 2% of Americans prior to the Civil War ever owned slaves.

I have no doubt that the Native Americans originally migrated from elsewhere as well before becoming the first Americans. And I have no doubt that many of them were themselves savages who killed others with little or no provocation. Not all white men who came over were evil war mongers, and not all natives were innocent, peace-loving victims.

No one who owned a slave or killed or stole from a Native American in the US is alive today. I refuse to beat the dead horses of hundreds of years ago, particularly when none of my ancestors committed any of those evil deeds the American left wants to hold me personally responsible for. And particularly when Native Americans, blacks, latinos, etc on the whole all get tons of extra benefits and perks from both the government and the private sector.

Please stop with the patronizing nonsense of labeling Native Americans as poor victims and as ignorant, uneducated people who barely speak English. I am a college graduate, a land and home owner, and have been worth seven figures since my mid 30's, and I'm 48 now. My parents were blue collar workers. I worked my way through college, and proudly served 4 years as an officer in the US military.

I've never taken a penny of charity from the government, but I have had private oil companies pay me millions in oil royalties in recent years for drilling oil on my land - land that I bought with money I earned, and also lesser amounts on family land owned jointly with other members of my family. I applied for a Native American college scholarship when I was a student some 25 years ago, and I did not pout about not being accepted - I just found other ways to make it happen.

I live about 40-50 miles from a huge casino owned and operated by Native Americans. They were given tons of money for the casino by the government, and the casino generates tons of revenue. Most of the employees of the casino are Native Americans, and I know for a fact that they are paid relatively well and often overpaid in many individual cases.

I know many Native Americans in and around my area who get several thousand dollars a month in "per capita" tax-free income to literally do nothing. I briefly dated a middle aged woman a few years older than me several years ago who had an adult daughter living with her. Their combined per capita income was something like $75-80k a year. Neither of them worked, cleaned their own home, did their own yard work, or anything else. The daughter spent most of her money on booze and drugs, and the mom wasn't much better. I consider neither poor nor a victim of anything or anyone.

If the US left was so concerned about the legit evil that slavery is, why are you not outraged about the slavery that still goes on today in Africa and other nations?

And why do we never hear about Africa's role in the US slave trade - we're told by the US left that evil white men invaded Africa and "kidnapped" all of the African slaves who were brought here. The truth is that virtually all of them were bought from other Africans, which was itself wrong of course. But leaving this out doesn't tell the truth and the whole story.

I am first generation in this country from Europe & i have N/A friends living on reservations that have a quite a story to tell. There is much we don't know due to our censored news which i learned from my family as a child that waited on news papers from Europe to get the complete story. I know beyond any doubt N/A are still being abused & their treaties are still being broken to this day so please don't talk to me about these people that you don't know that much about.

I don't understand why people who come here from elsewhere and find they don't like it here continue to stay.

We aren't a perfect country, and I don't always agree 100% with everything the government has done. But we have given more aid to those who need it throughout the world than all other countries combined. We are the first people everyone else calls when they need money, disaster relief, military aid, etc, etc.

I have zero use for people who hate this country yet continue to live here and benefit directly from us being the world's premier military and financial superpower, or who live elsewhere and benefit indirectly from their country being an ally of ours or a beneficiary of our generosity... The same loons who were cheering in the streets when 9-11 happened are probably hoping Kim somehow manages to strike Honolulu with a missile and kills thousands.

i don't understand why people don't ask more questions before they make assumptions. i don't believe folks hate this country & tend to believe they may have little tolerance for ignorant people in any country that believe they know what's best for others. imo, we need to clean up our own country & fix our half baked democracy before we ram it down the throats of other countries & we also need to allow other countries to work things out in their own time just like we did. Furthermore, our Gov needs to stop lying to our people via the news because bombing other countries in the name of "terrorism" is not always the truth which the deleted stories about Syria clearly reflect. Their only crime is they want to remain independent & do not want to give access to a pipe line running through "THEIR" country so they have been getting massacred & if it weren't for Russia they would be gone. Ironic that up until i think 2010, Syria made the top 10 list as one of safest countries - go figure lol

back to add Safest countries link - Syria made top 5 & no clue where the USA was on that list in 2010 https://www.realclearworld.com/lists/top_5_personal_safety_countries/syria.html

Swap the word politics for tribalism and you wont be far wrong - when you vote for particular parties you know what you are getting, left, liberal or right wing policies. I agree to a certain extent that the US money cow has been milked so many times in the past (often by other countries) that it has bizarrely become the norm. Why should the US fund the rest of the world?
