"That's the way it works"? It's a completely unsustainable model, and people are completely justified in showing "distaste" toward a huge influx of strangers from a different culture entering their nation en masse and draining the resources of their government, particularly while other gulf nations such as Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia are closing their borders and refusing to take refugees.

It's all because the UK are in the EU, and so we agreed to take in a certain amount of the 'refugees' just like a lot of other countries have had to. Like France for example...And we all know what happened there.

Yeah it's not good that it works this way but the country is so caught up in trying to be politically correct that they stamp all over their own just to cater to fresh arrivals into the country. People who oppose or voice their opinions on how they don't like the situation are often branded as racists and just recently being arrested for their views.

    The world is a....weird place.

The UK has always been pressured, but at least they did it on their own terms. Taking them in directly from refugee camps allows them to organize things more effectively , and also aid workers can vouch for the refugees too. Sadly, it will be a case of pick and choose, but you can't save everyone.

While it's ok to say that the UK as a duty to take refugees like every other EU country, what isn't taken into consideration is the amount of illegal immigrants that have already made their way over here.

We are taking 20,000 'official' refugees, but we're probably getting the same figure coming over without the necessary paperwork. Have you seen the port at Calais? If not I would urge people to take a look at what's going on there.

Calais is getting to be a pretty bad situation. Just this year there have been migrants storming the Channel Tunnel and the ports to try and get into the UK. The popular thing that they do is try to smuggle themselves aboard UK bound trucks obviously without the drives knowledge. The kicker to that is if they are discovered on the other end, the driver of the truck is given a hefty fine for importing people.

The system is a huge joke.

The thing is, you don't HAVE to take the official or unofficial ones. You choose to do so. But you could very well just say "no" to taking the refugee quota and kick out the illegals too. But of course you, like many other European countries, won't do this because it wouldn't be politically correct.

Poland just said that they will not be taking in the quota the EU has decided on. Good for them! :)
