I recently bought a 10 acre property which is agricultural. It has an HOA and they require that anything and everything you put on the property be approved by them. I am unable to afford a house as large as they require the main residence to be and am trying to get them to approve either a barn with an apartment or a garage with an apartment/guest house first. Does anyone know if there are any laws that over-ride HOAs? I am very frustrated because I first have to have a well drilled, a septic put in and then a foundation so I would like to live on my property in an RV until I am able to build on it. Suggestions would be appreciated.
