Syria has been locked in a civil war for a decade. The entire country is in ruins, there is literally almost nothing left of the poor place. Violence is widespread, daily life is a nasty stuggle just to stay alive. Mix in the fact that the world powers are selling/providing arms, general meddling and using this as a proxy war.
Seems like a pretty darn good "excuse" to move.
Like most of the Islamic world, it was a pretty decent place to live before the big powerful countries started messing around in them.
Google what Afghanistan was like before the Soviets invaded and the West armed the Jihadists and you will see exactly what I mean.

But thats the point people are making on here. For a war torn country, you'd expect people to be a lot worse off than they appear to be. No doubt some are genuine refugees, but when you look at a lot of the people wanting to gain entry to another country claiming refugee status, they well clothed, well fed, and able to support themselves financially.

That's why some charities that were asking for donations to help people, have since turned round and said they don't actually need as much help as what they was expecting, so that in turn suggests that some aren't actually genuine refugees in the first place.
