When you look at the size of Google, Apple and Amazon to name but three, these companies are worth upwards of $500 billion with Apple more than $800 billion. These are phenomenal valuations although these are huge companies which have been built up over the years. If you compare investing in large companies to small/medium-sized companies, consider turning a large ship as opposed to turning a small to medium-sized vessel. The small to medium-size vessel is more nimble and easier to control. Should you use this type of thinking with your investment portfolio?

Small and medium sized companies certainly have a place in my portfolio, and account for some of my biggest % gainers.

Of course smaller companies are generally riskier than larger ones, so I tend to buy the more promising smaller companies lightly compared to the good / great multi-billion dollar companies.
