We are in unchartered waters so in all honesty nobody knows how this will impact economies and company profits. What we do know is that a vaccine for the coronavirus is many many months away. Probably next year! Not good news.

That is a whole year of market progress wiped out in just a few weeks! I also think there is more downside as nobody has a clue how bad the coronavirus will get. Very very troubling times for investors.

The reduction in base rates by the Fed is just for show as this will have little if any impact on stock markets at the moment. There needs to be a concerted effort to contain the virus, find a vaccine and allow things to get back to normal asap. However, will this type of virus be a new risk factor that all investors will need to factor into their risk/reward ratios going forwards?

In my 20 years watching and investing in stock markets I have never seen such as situation - even the 1987 crash wasnt as bad. At least, no matter how far off, there was a case of we will get there in the end. With the virus, when will it all end? How will it all end? What if a more deadly virus was to merge to create a "super virus"? Scary stuff!

These wild swings on the Dow Jones industrial average are proving very difficult to live with. Every time Donald Trump opens his mouth he seems to knock investor confidence time and time again. Perhaps he should let the experts speak?

While many hope that we are approaching the peak of the crisis, the evidence suggests otherwise. With no immediate visibility there must surely by the potential for more signficiant stock market falls round the world?

It would be foolish to suggest the worst is even over but there is a small flicker of light at the end of the tunnel. Long way to go but we have not lost hope yet :)

Are the more recent falls as much to do with DTs mismanagement of the issue as they are with the virus itself? Donald is looking more and more out of his depth and lives are now at risk.

Personally I think that DT has put the US in a nightmare scenario by holding off the realisation that Covid-19 is a killer and is sweeping the US. New York accounts for more than half of the confirmed infections and deaths. Was the reaction too little too slow?

The coronavirus has shown Donald Trump to be a foolish and reckless president after initially dismissing the threat of the killer virus and then going overboard with regards to relief funding. While we pray this is not the case, history may not be very kind to Donald Trump when we look back on one of the most challenging periods for the world. Did he stand up to be counted or was he left wanting?
