I see ads everywhere for this TV dramatization of the OJ Simpson trial. The tag line is" the trial wasn't the whole story, this is. But I feel like these movies never do anything but distort people's impressions of events because they basically have to make up most of the scenes. Also, didn't we all hear enough about this trial when it was happening. It's hardly a feel good story.
I have always insisted that OJ Simpson was hard done by the by the conduct of the agents of the state in that trial. The trial was a real mockery of justice; police tampering with evidence, the prosecutor and Judge benefiting by through interviews and book deals based on what transpired in the trial. In many other jurisdictions around the world actions like these would not have been unacceptable.
The story will be about whatever they think will make it most money. They aren´t going to tell an accurate story, they are going to create fiction that is as scandalous as possible.
You got that right. He was guilty as shhh. Exactly. They're going to tell the story in a way that suits their narrative. I don't doubt they'll make him innocent to create the impression that all blacks are being oppressed by the criminal justice system.
I saw the endless coverage in 1994 and 1995, and suffered through the agonizing analysis that one couldn't escape. I'm not about to put up with a TV movie. I already know the ending. "If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit."
I find these dramas still don't tell the whole story because many people want to put it behind them. I'm not sure what purpose it would serve, because there are still people who think he was guilty and that he got off because he had good lawyers. The judicial system is flawed, and it's up to the prosecution to present a solid case. As it is, O.J. Simpson is in jail for other crimes already.
Hard done by, by getting off completely when "someone" killed his girlfriend in his house in a rage. Yeah. Well. Maybe it is just all about people to young too be totally sick of hearing about this from the first time around.
The more they beat a dead horse and keep rehashing and trying to bring back things they think will be a cashcow or sensationalism for the media to milk further, the more they are going to do this. OJ Simpson still gets a cut of it which would clearly help his current financial situation, and I'm sure the family of the deceased get payment from it as well. There's been enough time that has passed to where maybe they think they can spin it a different direction than what people saw before. The media seldom if ever tells the truth about something unless they have to, or it makes them more money to tell it like it is, which is more rare than lightning striking your car twice in one day. I won't be watching it, because I had more than enough of the whole OJ Simpson and Nicole thing back in 1992. They'll probably get millenials to watch it, may tell them anything in the release of this to get higher ratings, and that may be their intent for all of this.
You feel that OJ was treated unjustly, explorerx7? Hmmm... well if people hadn't been brutally murdered, it would have been terribly funny. And it's maddening the way celebrities came out of the whole fiasco. Kardashian, Shapiro, Cochran.... Kato Kaelin, for crying out loud! Getting away with murder just to add a few more celebrities to the country. Ugh. (See, I agreed with most of what you said, just not the first part.) Who can forget the award-worthy performance of trying to "prove" the glove didn't fit when it obviously fit? Mockery of justice... indeed! That "dream team" did *nothing* that OJ didn't pay for... we all know who was calling the shots and I highly doubt it was the attorneys.
Yep, yep.... what a load of garbage. Anyone with eyes saw that the glove fit... fit like a glove. There's no way I'd touch this movie.
