Tim Cook disappointed in new Indiana law

There are lots of other progressive companies also jumping onboard as well. I still have no clue why the Indiana governor would pass such a bill.

 

I don't know why people are up in arms about this bill. Its similar to laws on the books in 20 states and resembles a law signed into law by President Clinton. I thinkits another case over hysteria trumping rational debate in American politics.

 

He says it's all about protecting religious freedom but it's clearly just an underhand tactic to allow Christian businesses to discriminate against gays. I 'm willing to wager that the majority of Christians don't agree with this either.

Under the new laws, a Christian-run coffee shop could refuse to serve a gay couple, simply on the basis of their sexuality. It's such a backwards move and I'm pleased to hear that organizations appear to be taking a stand against it.

The thing is that sexual orientation isn't covered under discrimination protection, AND it's straight after an attempt at trying to ban gay marriage. Does that not raise any red flags to you?

 

I see the good and the bad in this bill. I understand that there are issues for potential discrimination, but I do not think that is all that this bill is for. This could actually be put to good use if used correctly.

 

This bill will affect a lot of people. I don't believe homosexuals are the only ones being threaten by the bill. You have other religions and people of different races who can legally be discriminated against if one's religious beliefs don't coincide with the idea of serving individuals who don't fit your visual phenotype. The law is flawed and shouldn't have been consider at all. I feel it was more about catering to the far right wing and reclaiming the "real" traditional ideas in America.

 

Too true and I wonder what this will lead to? I'm willing to bet that some people will take advantage of this ruling to discriminate against Muslims.

 

Why do people continue to make up crap about this law? Why the hysteria? Why the lack of facts? This law is very similar to a law signed into law on the federal level by the liberal Bill Clinton, with near unanimous support in both Houses of Congress. It just speaks to how far we have fallen as a country in just a couple of decades. 20 years ago this law was a bipartisan slam dunk. Now it's a big controversial piece of legislation? Very depressing.
