I think he is implying that the internet influences people (but so does the television, movies, magazines, and books) and encourages them. The fact is many do get radicalized at school or at a mosque without any media influence at all. While the internet can also spread propaganda such as Twitter, it's then up to these site who ban or block accounts. It does also help the authorities to 'prove' who is who, and also to build a timeline of movements, so it may have helped catch some terrorists too.

It makes me wonder what the next statement Trump is going to make to be honest.

It seems as if he's trying to outdo each statement by being even more and more ridiculous, and do people really want this man to be president?

If you are using the internet to commit crimes - particularly violent crimes such as terrorist threats/conspiracies, etc - you should not expect your communications to be any more off limits and affording any more "privacy" than anywhere else. It's a risk you take when you decide to commit those crimes.

That is a great point, but he is talking about limiting it based on what language they are using and what religion they belong to. That really is the major disconnect in all this conversation. The right-wingers just want to throw all muslims in with the terrorists ( and even people who just happen to speak arabic). Also, again, crimes are crimes, you don´t take away people´s freedoms because YOU think they might want to commit a crime.

It is funny listening to people talk about gun control, have the exact oppositie mentality when it comes to muslims. Should we take away your guns because some of you might commit crimes with them? hell no? then why should we take away the internet from people just because some of them might use them to commit crimes? 1st and 2nd amendments, but literally the same exact thing.

I'm wondering this too. He sort of reminds me of Farage when he had a lot of attention drawn to him and everything he said it seemed like he was saying them to draw even more attention to himself and his party. Trump looks to be doing the same, in a more extreme way however.

I think there will be a point in time where the people supporting him will look at him as some sort of nut job, and I think that time is fast approaching.

This! Every time he opens his mouth something completely stupid comes out. He always has so much to say and none of it makes sense. Just listening to him makes my head hurt. It is scary that he has so many supporters. SMH!!!

Yeah right, like that is going to happen. You can have all the ideas in the world, but the practicalities in terms of getting some of these things accomplished are a bit ridiculous. The best we can hope for is that there will be more policing going on of those who have radical or harmful intent toward other people. It is just one of the ways you need to have the best results when you are looking for help online with criminals.

This is the difference between those who have speeches written for them (checked and vetted for legality etc) and Trump who speaks his mind. Cruz is apparently ahead of him in a recent poll today (caucaus poll), so maybe Republicans are being realistic now with their vote. The problem is that these comments don't help, because there are people who don't understand how things work, who then try to protest for these things.

Do not worry, he has a plan, he is going to force ISIS to pay to have part of the internet closed off so that they cannot recruit using it.

Freedom of Speech has always been ugly, it always will be ugly. The thing that makes the USA great is that despite times of ugliness, our constitution triumphs.

І thіnk Trump mеаns thаt hе wаnts tо turn оff thе internet, јust radical Islamic sites оr close оff places thаt аrе lіkеlу tо spawn them.
