Due to the man-demonizing ad published by Gillette, consumers worldwide (specially males from North America and Europe) are rabidly threatening Gillette and all of Procter & Gamble's products with boycott. It is already the #28 most disliked video on YouTube, and raising on that ranking. The Twitter hashtag is #boycottprocterandgamble Other hashtags are #BoycottGillette #BoysWillBeBoys #BoycottProcterandGamble @vaastavngo @MenWelfare @F4JOfficial @speakformen Note that other companies and products may be confused with P&G due to the popularity of this image: A common meme on YouTube and other networks lists the trademarks and products to be boycotted:
Groups such as Procter & Gamble manufacture an array of everyday products which are not always matched by other companies. If there was a sell-off due to this suggested boycott then for many people this would be an interesting buying opportunity. No sell-off as yet
In my experience these boycotts very rarely work - people get bored, move onto the next trend and drift back to buying products from these boycotted companies. P&G are everywhere you go! Even the bad press hasnt really effected the share price.
The likes of P&G will be the backbone of many long term portfolios - they heavily influence our every day life and spending habtits. The shares havent done too badly over the last 12 months - especially after that fall in May.
