Where do you go (or have gone in the past) to rent property? News websites, craigslist, real estate sites, facebook, apartment rental sites ... ?

This can be you renting out your property or you renting property from someone else.

Usually I check online, it's the best way to see the properties, location and compare sites, everyone does it these days.

Word of mouth is what i rely on most of the time when am renting or in search of a house i can move to, its only until recently that i had to sign a contract with a professional real estate agent to help me get a tenant or if i want to move as well, i turn to them...they are really hands on{after travailing with a deadbeat real estate agent that got FIRED!}...God bless them!

There are a lot of Facebook groups in my area that have local rental properties and many people seem to use those. There are also a lot of rental property management companies that are a safe route to go.

The last time I rented, I found the apartment listed in the newspaper. That was a decade ago though. Now I would use Craigslist or some other online real estate rental site where I can see pictures and communicate with the owner to see if a visit is worth my time.

I can't recall the last time I rented a property, I think I never did. I bought my place more or less 15 years ago and I am still living there.

I have not rented since college either. Waste of money unless of course you have no choice. I was fortunate to have enough money to make the down payment on a property and qualify for a loan.

I think that if we are planning to stay for a short while in a place renting does make sense, but if not it's indeed a waste of money because we are paying to others instead of buying.

Last time I rented a house, I just looked through classified ads in the local paper. It's much easier to find a house that way. And I think if you are a landlord seeking lodgers/tenants then placing an ad in a local paper would work much better than online ads which would attract psychos your way.
