Why do Americans value the ability to own a gun so much?

    The principles behind the Second Amendment hold true and are valid regardless of how many accidents or criminals use them. People died to secure our rights so many of us are not so short-sighted and ignorant enough to easily dismiss them. We have respect for those lives and the principles that help secure our long-term freedom.

    One of the key things that made America different was that the balance of power was to be with the People. WE are in charge. WE are responsible for getting rid of corrupt politicians, tyrannical tactics, our own safety, family, and property.

    So until you offer to stand guard outside my house while I sleep, or find some magical way to teleport police to home invasion scenes in time to prevent harm, it's hard to even take you seriously.
