Why does Islam seem to have more violent fanatics than other religions?

Poverty often is proffered as the reason why lots of Muslims readily sacrifice their lives so they can end up in heaven with dozens of virgins. Most of them are brainwashed into believing the lies. They are made to believe that they are doing the right thing but those who deceive them do whatever they can to save their lives. If they believed what they preached they'd eagerly "kill infidels for Allah" instead of hiding in caves.

The Koran is open to a lot of interpretation and I think it's a book that can very easily be twisted to each persons view as they see fit.

A lot of Muslims are peaceful and will quote the Koran in one way, but you'll get a more radical Muslim quoting the exact same passage but using it to justify terrorist activities.

Although the Wests involvement with the Afghanistan conflict during the 1980's led to the escalation of Islamic terrorism in modern times, the problem goes back over a millenium. In 1095, the Catholic church sanctioned military campaigns against the turkish threat, essentially in order to guarantee the safety of pilgrims to the Holy Land, which was entirely under muslim control at the time. Although there were many other long-term goals of the Church in promoting this comflict, and eventually many different pivotal events during the 200 year struggle. In the long-tem, although the Crusades opened the Mediterranean to commerce which in turn also led to the eventual development of Western Europe, it also led to division within the Catholic church and re-inforced the strength of the Ottoman Empire.
