Has anyone heard of a company called Witricity? They look like they may be on to something. Their shares are listed on NASDAQ (INTC). Let me know what you think.

The basic premise has been around for a long time, but the technology never really hit the market. This one does look interesting. If it actually works well, it could make mobile devices much easier to recharge and therefore add value to the consumer.

Yes hardly new- Tesla believe that we did not have to have all these wires. What we did have to have are these giant scary towers all over the place, and maybe Faraday cages on our homes to protect us. Isn't one of these Tesla towers at Coney Island? tesla-wardenclyffe-tower-shot.jpg Seriously these are the worst looking towers EVER... maybe they have come upwith some new way to make this all work but honestly I doubt this will happen in my lifetime. I think more likely is solar or wing energy. Maybe some glwing type of LED that stays charge all night or can run other electrical things

Tesla wanted to give the world free electricity. During one of his final projects his funding was pulled because the powers that was making money off of charging people to use electricity would lose a lot of money if they found out that it was free elsewhere.

We are spending so much resources on solar and wind generators when there is teslas methods of free electricity.

Witricity definitely isn't INTC on the NASDAQ because that's Intel Corporation. It's not even a publicly traded company. The concept is interesting, but it's not going to happen anytime soon, except in limited uses, mostly for electronic devices and perhaps some smart home elements. Witricity did PARTNER with Intel in order to meet mutual goals, but wireless electricity outside of consumer devices isn't going to happen even within the next decade.

Seems like everyone then agrees that wireless electricity is a good investment idea. I've made a note of it. Now let's see if we can actually catch lightning in a bottle with this baby. That would be too awesome.

This is the thing with this technology, it's free!!! Why invest in something that is actually old technology. You can spend about 2 bucks at radioshack and acquire the parts needed to make a antenna that will pull in free electricity. Go to youtube and search for free electricity antenna or something to that effect. A bunch of people have done it with used parts around the house.

Too much in it´s infancy to even consider it an investment now. You are going to invest money today in a company that has a 1 in a 1,000,000 chance to make you rich in 30 years? There are hundreds of companies with similar risk/reward where the payoff would be much sooner ( if there is one). People don´t buy lottery tickets if the numbers aren´t announed for decades.

This company is actually working on a way to supply electricity to a single family home without wires. I don't think you could do that with a trip to Radio Shack. By the way I hear Radio Shack is about to be history. So, you better get over their quickly for the parts to your project.
